Labor Day Weekend at the Museum It has been a few years since I have shown art at the Harley Museum so when I found out Heyltje Rose was going this year I jumped on the chance to share a booth with her. Our hand crafted motorcycle goods have a tendency to compliment each other rather well and, with the added bonus of seeing her face for a week, it made the prospect of the journey irresistible. So with quite a bit of preparation I loaded up the Art mobile and drove to Milwaukee to Hustle Art during the 115th Anniversary party. A few things changed this time around. Firstly, the museum extended the hours of operation so we had to be present from 9-9. Pretty long days, which denied us the opportunity to visit friends, but at least we got to spend a lot of time together to catch up and developed some pretty stellar ideas.  - 5pm Boxcar Gallery - Denver Colorado  A celebration of the pursuit of adventure in art! Wether you’re on two wheels or four wheels you have an itch to travel, explore and seek adventure this art show is for you. The concept behind “Oil and Dirt” is to capture the spirit of those seeking to adventure the world. I was honored and delighted to be invited to create work for this show and I orchestrated 3 Moto adventure related pieces in this show.  It's always fun to bring a new challenge and goal into your work. The Motor Mural I painted in Loveland Colorado was the most fun I've had painting in a long time. Although this image was a commission and heavily influence by David Mann at the patrons request, it was a pleasure to be challenged to make art from a ladder. I have wanted to break into the mural world for some time now and have been working up to larger public works. I have done large scale paintings and a few installations murals but this was my 2nd true mural and I must admit I'm addicted.   You spend most of your time designing the image on a screen in your studio knowing you will be making the image on scaffolding and ladders with limited amounts of time. The temperature is out of your control and once the painted is cracked you know you will be working around the clock in order to get it done in a timely fashion. What an excitement to have been able to take a part in this art show surrounded by some of the most talented motorcycle builders and Moto Artists of our time. Although I was unable to make it due to Military obligations, The Michael Lichter show is one of the most celebrated shows in the motorcycle community and I was honored to have been invited to take part. The show took place during Sturgis at the Buffalo Chip  with this years featured artists all being under the age of 30. This event featured roughly 15 artists and over 30 bike builders which is an insane amount of talent in one room. I decided to put together 8 paintings and 1 helmet on top of a busy summer I must say I painted in a frenzy in order to produce new and fresh work for this event. Worth every moment to be considered for this legendary man's show! Cheers

The Yearly Trek to Milwaukee Bike Week, I must admit, is one of my favorite events to attend. There is nothing better than the warm familiar feeling of going home. The old architecture, welcoming midwestern people and the opportunity to visit old friends tears into my heart with the  desire to move back. I was blessed with the opportunity to share a space to show hand crafted work with my amazingly talented friend Heyltje Rose. I was delighted to spend the weekend catching up with this Long beach Artist who has been an inspiration to me as an artist. "Joey and the Chopper Boys - Page 25" Throughout this children's book there has been many small and important details added to show my appreciation to the people I have met and who have inspired me along this journey.  On page 25, during the culminating event of the book, Joey is presented with the  "PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD"!  Who better to present this award than the Legendary Jack Schit himself.  Jack can be found at motorcycle events all over the country bringing life and animation to any biker event. Art in Historic Downtown Louisville Friday July 3rd from 6pm till 9pm. The first friday is an opportunity to check out local artists, partake in a street faire, live music and most importantly live art performances!   2015 Steel Horse Sisterhood Women's Motorcycle Summit The summit is a gathering of smart, motivated, kind women who believe that when one succeeds, all benefit and that the sharing of our secrets to our success matters. A room full of women encouraging and supporting one another is a powerful thing!                                               THE FACE OF A SISTER  is an art show within the summit featuring a series of paintings created specifically for this show. The eight original oil paintings featured are portraits of women of all ages and riding styles. These women found their freedom and independence on the open road and are being acknowledged for it. The History Corner bars, tattoo parlors, motorcycle exhaust, and the greased up bolt of her M4 provide the elements that tend to drive the passionate work behind Kayla Koeune’s artistic creations. Koeune grew up in small-town Wisconsin where she found a love for art at a very young age. And like most of Wisconsin youth, she spent much of hers in taverns; only she was busy drawing the bar flies from a fort she’d construct out of stools. Her passion to create never ceasing, Koeune decided to expand her knowledge and attended the Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts where she earned her BA in Fine Arts with a minor in Art History. She gravitated toward the challenge of the nude human form and capturing the raw emotion of everyday life.
