Plein Air in Colorado


Although I spend most of my time in my studio lately I have been trying to get out and paint in the world. I must say it has been quite refreshing as lame as it sounds the cool air, the quiet nature and the warm light have brought new inspiration into my work. In my college days I spent more time drawing from the subject ... be it from a still life, a model or outdoors, rather than spending all my time in the studio painting from photos and memory. These days life is the opposite and getting out a few times over the past few months have really motivated me to live more. Instead of using photos, to hike into a spot in order to paint from the source creates its own adventure that I need more of. I forgot how much information a photo lacks. You can imagine how the colors dance in the light but seeing the colors dance while your working makes you learn how to capture the life in a image. It is one thing to render an image but a complete other thing to capture the feel of life.

So here I go to capture the world to get out of the studio and be refreshed by nature, by the live figure and by the still life from life. To find a new attitude and stain in my work and tackle Plein Air Art.

Flight Cancleled.... Buffering... Buffering

They always say if everything goes right there is no real story to tell. Our experience could have been we got on the plane, Got onto our connecting flight with a ton of leg room that we paid for, and were taken to our hotel in a timely fashion so we could enjoy our 3 day tour of the Golden Triangle. That was not the case...not at all...holy guacamole I wish I could say it was even close. So Charlie and I did check into our flight with ease and we made it to Newark, now it was 45 minutes delayed in flight but not nearly delayed enough to miss our second flight. In fact we had time to enjoy Giant meatballs and Calamari before boarding the long leg of our journey. With ease we boarded and sat in our exit row with triple leg room and space to breath. Well there we sat... and we sat... and then we sat some more. The plane had a mechanical issue and they were trying to fix the system, I believe it was to get the in flight entertainment working. Dirt Roads and Mountain Air

My first experience on the off Road I would like to start off by saying me and dirt roads have never gotten along overly well. Somehow, I always seem to end up with the rubber not where it belongs, but like most things in my life if it causes me fear or anxiety I run straight toward it. So naturally I purchased an Africa Twin, a bike made for the off road. What I didn’t purchase though was a set of off road tires, so you get some of the things you need like suspension and breaking power, but not max traction that you would want on a one land road covered in boulders. Now to most adventure riders this road would seem rather basic but for me it was my first test of trust with amazing machine. Joey and the Chopper Boys - Jack Schit

"Joey and the Chopper Boys - Page 25" Throughout this children's book there has been many small and important details added to show my appreciation to the people I have met and who have inspired me along this journey.  On page 25, during the culminating event of the book, Joey is presented with the  "PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD"!  Who better to present this award than the Legendary Jack Schit himself.  Jack can be found at motorcycle events all over the country bringing life and animation to any biker event. I am happy to have shared many good times with this man and thrilled to be able to include his presence in this children's chopper experience. "Right then, so loud the entire neighborhood could hear, the emcee blasted to the crowds that it was time to announce the "PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD".  Joey remained quiet and calm as she hoped with all her might that all the work she did to her bike would be well received.
